The Enrichment Centers – a tutoring program that caters to students of all ages has celebrated over 40 years of challenging young minds and improving academic skills.

What started as a kitchen-table company serving children with special needs has grown into a business that helps over 600 students every year. Today, our Center serves developmentally challenged students as well as gifted teens – teaching every subject from elementary history to physics.

It all started in 1965, when Walter Weiss began tutoring special needs children from his home, but after two years his roster grew and he knew he needed a bigger space.

"The truth is, my mother was ready to have her kitchen table back," said Dean Weiss, co-owner of the Enrichment Center.

Moving into an old doctor's office on La Habra Boulevard in 1967, Walter started the Enrichment Center which, at the time, focused on students with learning disabilities.

In 1978, the center moved into its current location at 300 S. Beach Blvd., and expanded its services.

Walter's sons, Dean and Hal, brought their expertise to the program in the late '70s – Dean focusing on high school and gifted students and Hal specializing in elementary and junior high children.
